Box Office: Freaky Ali Ends On An Average Note, While Baar Baar Dekho Tanks
Last Friday, September 09, 2016, saw the released of Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Arbaaz Khan starrer Freaky Ali and Sidharth Malhotra-Katrina Kaif starrer Baar Baar Dekho. Both these films have failed to create magic at the Box Office.
Freaky Ali was Nawazuddin Siddiqui‘s first commercial solo hero film, which has had a low first week. The film brought in just about Rs 11.20 crore (Rs 112 million), which is not very encouraging. With Freaky Ali, Salman Khan and his production, Salman Khan Productions has belted out another film, the first one being Hero, that has failed to create a stir at the Box Office.
Released in about 1000 screens, pan India and made at a budget of about Rs 19 crore (Rs 190 million), with Rs 15 crore (Rs 150 million) spent in production and about Rs 04 crore (Rs 04 million) spent on print and publicity, Freaky Ali will break even, but in the long run.
Coming to Baar Baar Dekho, well, this one has performed way below expectations. All the star power and hectic promotional tours couldn’t save the film from witnessing a drop in occupancy throughout the week. The film has barely managed to collect about Rs 29 crore (Rs 290 million) at the end of it’s first week, which is disappointing.
Released in about 2000 screens, pan India and made at a budget of about Rs 46 crore (Rs 460 million), with Rs 33 crore (Rs 330 million) spent in production and about Rs 13 crore (Rs 130 million) spent on print and publicity, Baar Baar Dekho has proved to be a failure at the Box Office.
Baar Baar Dekho was a crucial film for Katrina Kaif whose last two films, Fitoor and Phantom, had also tanked. Her next would next be Jagga Jasoos, which has been long delayed and is not carrying very good reports. For Sidharth Malhotra, this is his second flop post Brothers.
This Nitya Mehra film has been rejected in a big way and while a segment of the audience was not interested to watch the film to begin with itself, rest decided to stay away from it after the negative word of mouth started spreading.
The film isn’t really enjoying a good number of screens to it’s credit in the second week, which means by the time the third week begins, it would be off the theaters. For a film, which had people like Karan Johar, Farhan Akhtar, Sidharth Malhotra and Katrina Kaif associated with it, an outcome like this where it has disappeared without trace is a huge downer.
Today, September 16, 2016 we have Pink (Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu) and Raaz Reboot (Emraan Hashmi and Gaurav Arora) set for release. None of the films are expected to garner a great opening. All eyes are now set on Riteish Deshmukh-Nargis Fakhri starrer Banjo, which is set for a September 23, 2016 release.
